U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District names Vilonia man as Engineer of the Year

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District has named a Vilonia man as its 2024 Engineer of the Year.

Corps officials said Gabriel Knight was awarded in recognition of his “excellence and outstanding engineering contributions to the organization’s missions.” Knight is a native Arkansan who has held multiple positions within the Corps.

Knight is currently the Engineering and Construction Branch Chief of the Maintenance Engineering Section in the Corps’ Operations Division. Here, he maintains and updates the White River System Water Management System hydraulic model, which Corps officials call ”complex.”

Officials said Knight also supports the Dam Safety Periodic Assessments and Inspections. He also maintains supervisory maintenance engineering responsibilities for critical maintenance on the Little Rock District’s 25 water management structures and 308 miles of the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System.

An Arkansas State University graduate, Knight is currently working on his M.S. in river science and engineering.
