Pine Bluff PD: 1 dead, 1 arrested in deadly Saturday morning shooting
PINE BLUFF, Ark.- Pine Bluff police are investigating a Saturday morning shooting that left one person dead and another person in custody.
According to investigators, officers responded to reports of a shooting just after 11 a.m. near the intersection of 34th Avenue and Missouri Steet.
Investigators said they located 29-year-old Otis Daniels who was then transported to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Officers say they were able to locate the scene of the shooting in the 1100 block of East 34th Avenue and 44-year-old John Carter was identified as the shooter by police and taken into custody.
Police say witnesses and Carter stated that Daniels came to Carter’s residence where a physical altercation initiated by Daniels ensued. Investigators say after being battered, Carter said he retrieved a revolver from his residence and shot Daniels multiple times.
Daniels then was said to have fled the home to the area where he was later located.
Investigators said Carter was arrested and interviewed and then taken to a hospital where he was treated for his wounds from the altercation.
Police said after he is released from the hospital, he will be taken to the Jefferson County Jail and face a charge of Capital Murder.
