Tornado Watch issued for parts of Arkansas as severe threat increases Sunday
Related
The Arkansas Storm Team is monitoring the risk for a few isolated strong to severe storms that could develop Sunday afternoon. Very large hail and tornadoes will be possible with these storms. A Tornado Watch has been issued across northern Arkansas through 11 p.m. Sunday.

Here’s the general timeline:
- Sunday Afternoon
A few isolated storms could develop over parts of northern Arkansas, capable of producing very large hail and perhaps a strong tornado. In much of the state, we'll continue to see sunshine and warm, windy conditions. But these very few storms could be significant where they develop. - Sunday Evening:
As the cold front continues to push east, storms become more scattered. The tornado and hail risk will continue, but the damaging wind risk may become more significant as well through the evening. The severe risk should come to an end between 10 and midnight.

These storms could bring damaging straight-line wind in excess of 60-70 mph, large hail the size of baseballs, or perhaps even a tornado. Pockets of flash flooding cannot be ruled out across parts of Southeast Arkansas later in the night as some storms may linger, even after the severe risk subsides.

Even though this won’t be a widespread outbreak, any storms that form could be intense. Here are a few easy ways to stay prepared:
- Have multiple ways to get alerts. A weather radio, your phone, and yes—the Arkansas Storm Team app are all great tools.
- Charge your devices early in the day while the weather is still calm.
- Know where to go if a tornado warning is issued: lowest floor of a site-built home, interior room, away from windows.
- Keep checking in for updates!

The Arkansas Storm Team will be here all weekend keeping an eye on things. Enjoy the nice weather while we’ve got it—and stay weather aware heading into Sunday evening.
