PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Officials with the U.S. Army Pine Bluff Arsenal are advising residents to not be alarmed on Monday if they hear loud noises and see smoke in the area.

According to a press release, personnel from the Little Rock Air Force Base Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit will be destroying obsolete production items.

In a post on the Air Force’s website, the EOD unit is responsible for mitigating the hazards of explosive materials and other weapons.

Earlier in the year, Little Rock Air Force Base EOD technician Staff Sgt. Matthew Sanders was awarded the Master EOD Badge at the Little Rock Air Force Base.

“The EOD badge identifies and affords recognition to personnel who have successfully completed the EOD training course; sustained a continuing high caliber of EOD job performance and maintained qualifications; and contributed significantly to the goals and ideals of the Air Force EOD program,” a release said.
