Cooling centers opening ahead of expected high temperatures

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Cooling centers in central Arkansas are beginning to open as the state gears up to see high temperatures this week.

The North Little Rock Community Center will be open during business hours as a cooling center from Wednesday, July 16 to Sunday, July 20.

A Heat Advisory will be in effect in central to east Arkansas from noon to 8 p.m. Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s this week and nearly 100 next week.

City officials are asking everyone to bring their own food, drink and entertainment.
