LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Army Corp of Engineers is warning about the amount of traffic expected at its parks for the April 8 eclipse.
The Corp said in a release Wednesday that lakes Ouachita, Greexon, and DeGray are expected to have exceptionally high visitation rates for the April 8 event. A corp spokesperson added that the hours of parking-lot-filling peak traffic for the eclipse will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. that day.
Representatives said barricades will restrict entrances once a park ranger determines the area is full. They added that only emergency vehicles may enter when the barricades are in place.
Once barricaded, representatives said that vehicles can leave the park but may not be able to re-enter. Car pooling is recommended to avoid further congestion.
For further information, the spokesperson recommends calling the Field Office at Lake Ouachita at 501-767-2101, Lake Greeson at 870-285-2151, and DeGray Lake at 870-246-5501.
