Razorback sprinter helps United States to world record in 4x400-meter mixed relay

PARIS (KNWA) — A Razorback sprinter helped propel the United States to a world record in the 4x400-meter mixed relay on Friday at Stade de France.

Kaylyn Brown, a sophomore at the University of Arkansas, was the anchor leg in the relay and raced along with Vernon Norwood of LSU and Texas A&M's Shamier Little and Bryce Deadmon.

The all-Southeastern Conference quartet timed 3:07.41, smashing the previous best of 3:08.80 set when the United States won world gold in Budapest at the World Championships.

Brown completed the relay with an individual time of 49.45, 0.04 seconds off her personal best. The quartet finished nearly three seconds behind France, according to World Athletics.

She is one of more than 30 Arkansas-affiliated athletes competing in track & field events in the Paris Olympics. Little also trains in Fayetteville.
