Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders launches Arkansas faith-based initiative website

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ administration has launched a website for the faith-based community to coordinate providing help to Arkansans in need.

Sanders’ office released a statement Friday that a faith-based initiative website is now in operation in the state. A representative said the Arkansas.gov website is a place for faith leaders to sign up and join other advocates addressing issues like childhood hunger, maternal health, foster care, social media and similar issues.

An official said the governor has previously signed executive orders to form working groups to address social needs and provide advocacy. The new website, they said, is a way for faith leaders to join these working groups.

Sanders said the site will help to create a better Arkansas.

“Faith is the guiding light in my life and in the lives of so many Arkansans,” Sanders said. “Arkansas’ faith communities are built on serving others. When we unite our churches, temples, and faith-based nonprofits around the common issues facing our state, I know we’ll build a better, brighter Arkansas.”

A Sanders spokesperson said the governor’s staff would reach out to stakeholders to help raise awareness and address issues the state is facing.

Sanders’ father Mike Huckabee is an ordained minister and the 44th governor of Arkansas. He was a Southern Baptist pastor for 12 years prior to entering politics in 1992.
