Saline County hosts polar plunge to benefit Special Olympics Arkansas

BENTON, Ark. – The weather lived up to the promise for Saturday morning's Salt Bowl Polar Plunge for Special Olympics in Saline County.

The chilly wind and cold water didn't stop the brave participants who took a dip in Hurricane Lake.

Saturday’s plunge raised almost $10,000 to benefit Special Olympics Arkansas.

Their mission is to provide year-round sports training and competition for athletes with special needs.

Elected officials even got in on the fun for a good cause.

"It was a great event, amazing job,” Bryant Mayor Chris Treat said. “Obviously I'm a big fan of everything they do, and just proud to be a part of it."

The theme on Saturday was “Let the good times be cold”.

The Salt Bowl Polar Plunge was hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
