City of Sherwood opening inclusive playground

SHERWOOD, Ark. – Sherwood is opening an inclusive playground for kids of all ages and abilities.

The project was funded by the Sherwood Advertising and Promotions Committee.

The playground features an easy way for people in wheelchairs to navigate, featuring an inclusive swing set, a sensory cove climber, therapeutic rings and more.

Mayor Mary Jo High-Townsell says the project has been a long-time vision come to life for the city.

“The special education teacher at the school across the street reached out, and said you know we've had to take them out of the city because we had no place that's appropriate where they could play,” High-Townsell said.

Now children do have that place to gather, for everyone to play and enjoy.

The playground is located in the larger Sherwood City Hall Park.
