Arkansas State Police identify suspect killed in Greene County officer-involved shooting
GREENE COUNTY, Ark. – Arkansas State Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that took place in Greene County.
Authorities said the Jonesboro Police Department warned law enforcement around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday to be on the lookout for 32-year-old Kyle Davis of Paragould, who police said was wanted for a residential burglary.
Just before 5 p.m., an officer with the Paragould Police Department saw Davis on the Greene County Tech High School campus before he fled.
State police said they later found Davis’ car on Jones Road before pursuing him onto State Highway 69, east onto U.S. Highway 412 and then eventually north onto Greene County Road 808.
After troopers used a tactical vehicle intervention to stop the pursuit, state police said Davis got out of his car and moved towards the officers wielding a shotgun and an ax. Authorities said the officers then shot at Davis, killing him.
According to ASP officials, three Greene County deputies, a Paragould police officer and an ASP trooper were involved in the shooting.
State police said ASP Criminal Investigation Division agents will prepare an investigative file to be submitted to the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney who will determine if the use of deadly force was consistent with Arkansas law.
