Final meteor shower of 2024 peaks tonight! Clear Skies and Frosty Lows Await — AST Weather Blog
The Ursid Meteor Shower; Tonight's Main Event
Hey, stargazers! The sky will have a special treat for us tonight: the Ursid meteor shower. Expect a handful of "shooting stars" every hour if you find a dark spot and look north toward the Little Dipper. Give your eyes time to adjust–maybe 20 to 30 minutes–and you'll have a better chance of catching those quick streaks of light. Look toward the Little Dipper in the northern sky. Don't forget to make a wish if you see one!
Tonight's Forecast
Bundle up! It'll be cold and clear, with temperatures dipping into the 20s. if you're outside for a while, grab a warm blanket and something hot to drink. Frost will likely set in by morning.
Enjoy the show, stay warm, and happy meteor hunting! -Christopher Pipkin
