‘Home Alone’ house in Conway brings movie fans to central Arkansas
CONWAY, Ark. – One family has made the tradition of looking at holiday lights into a cinematic experience.
It’s every film buff’s dream to step into their favorite movie and this holiday season, fans of the 1990 film “Home Alone” can experience the magic firsthand in Conway.
"Well, we do love the movie,” Tim Howard, co-owner of the “Home Alone House on Bay Hill” said.
Howard and his family moved into the home three years ago, but the idea to turn their house into a Christmas destination came later once his wife realized it bore a striking resemblance to that of 8-year-old Kevin McCallister’s fictional home.
"Well, we're gonna see if people think we're crazy or if they really love it,” Howard said.
Judging by the crowds that gather nightly taking in everything from the Wet Bandits and Buzz’s girlfriend to Kevin’s attempt at sledding, it seems the answer leans closer to love.
"Legit, everything looks like the movie scene,” visitor Stephanie Pancan said. “We heard about the Home Alone house, and I said ‘Oh, I grew up watching it so let's take the kids to go see it.’"
Those taking pictures and finding those hidden gems make this more than just a decorated home.
"They hit the details with the paint, the door handle, the wet bandit sign, the vehicle,” Pancan said.
Those details were handmade by Howard’s wife to keep the holiday spirit alive one iconic moment at a time.
"It's been really a lot of fun just seeing people be able to get out here and interact with the stuff and be a part of it,” Howard said.
To make visiting even more fun, look for the QR code on one of their displays that leads visitors through a scavenger hunt finding all the easter eggs scattered throughout the home.
Those wanting to visit should check out the house's social media pages for lighting and projection hours, as they change nightly.
