Arkansas State Police arrest Newton County man accused of making threats & damaging homeowner property
JASPER, Ark. - Arkansas State Police arrested a man Wednesday who is accused of threatening a homeowner and damaging their property in Newton County.
Special agents arrested 39-year-old William Gronwaldt in connection to a Saturday shots fired call in the 600 block of East Court Street in Jasper.
According to ASP officials, witnesses said Gronwaldt fired a shotgun at the residence, damaged property and was behaving erratically. Officials said the homeowner shot Gronwaldt in the hand during the confrontation.
State troopers said Gronwaldt fled the scene but was later found by deputies with the Newton County Sheriff's Office on State Highway 7 North after he was involved in a car crash. He was taken to a hospital in Missouri for treatment.
ASP officials said Gronwaldt was arrested after turning himself into deputies. He is facing charges of possession of a firearm by certain persons and terroristic threatening.
Gronwaldt is currently being held at the Newton County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.
