HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Races are usually focused on how fast someone can reach the finish line, however one race in Hot Springs is focusing on the opposite.

The Zero-K foot race is a 299 feet long course that will begin on 98-foot Bridge Street and end across the intersection on Convention Boulevard. Event officials said the point of the race is finish as slowly as possible.

“The main point is to cover the 299 feet as slowly as you can,” Visit Hot Springs Marketing Director Bill Solleder said. “The slowest racer wins. Is that cool or what?”

The race will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 16, a day before the World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The race will benefit Tri-Lakes CASA, supporting foster children in Garland, Hot Spring and Grant Counties.

The race has a $25 entry fee. Registration will end at noon March 16. To register, visit RunSignup.com.
