Arkansas State Police seize more than 1,700 pounds of marijuana in Crawford County
VAN BUREN, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas State Police say they seized more than 1,700 pounds of illegal marijuana in a traffic stop in Crawford County on Feb. 20.
ASP troopers stopped a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 near mile marker 2 for a traffic violation.

Troopers found 1,705 pounds of illegal marijuana in 42 boxes and a duffel bag while searching the trailer.
Dawit Asefa, 48, of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Ashenafi Mamo, 39, of Stone Mountain, Georgia were arrested and taken to the Crawford County Detention Center. Both are facing trafficking a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia charges.
