Former Gov. Jim Guy Tucker to lie in state at Arkansas capitol, flags ordered to half-mast

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arkansas political community is honoring one of its former governors.

Gov. Jim Guy Tucker will lie in state in the Arkansas capitol’s second-floor rotunda from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, for public viewing, the secretary of state’s office announced.

Current Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued an executive order on Tuesday that flags will fly at half-staff in honor of Tucker from Feb. 19 to Feb. 24.

A celebration of life is being held for Tucker at 2 p.m. Feb. 24 at the Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock. His final resting place will be at the Mount Holley Cemetary in Little Rock.

Tucker was the state’s 43rd governor. He died Feb. 13 at 81 years old. He became governor after serving as lieutenant governor under Bill Clinton and was followed in office by the 44th governor and the current governor’s father, Mike Huckabee.
