Central Arkansas communities holding events after deadly Conway park shooting

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Communities in central Arkansas are coming together to remember the victims of the 5th Avenue Park shooting in Conway.

The April 13 shooting claimed the lives of 24-year-old Tatayana Penister and 23-year-old Demetrius Feemster. Nine other people were injured, with one being in serious condition.

A pop-up community prayer will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in Little Rock at 900 South Pine Street. The event will be hosted by the Awareness Center and Lakiesha Braggs Ministries.

The NAACP Faulkner County Branch will hold a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Monday, April 21, in Conway at 5th Avenue Park located at 573 5th Avenue.

There has not been an arrest in connection with the shooting.

Conway Mayor Bart Castleberry and Police Chief Chris Harris gave an update on the deadly shooting, saying that detectives have leads in the investigation.
