Garland County deputy injured in fatal Sunday morning crash

GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. – A Garland County deputy was injured in a fatal crash early Sunday morning.
According to the Garland County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Gavin Mason was traveling southbound on a new portion of the Martin Luther King Expressway at 4:30 a.m. when a northbound vehicle crossed the center line and collided with Mason’s vehicle head-on.
Investigators said the impact caused Mason’s patrol vehicle to overturn, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries to Mason.
Deputies said the other driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arkansas State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
