Arkansas National Guard Texas flood recovery mission extended until July 19

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Arkansas National Guard officials say that Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders has approved a state active-duty extension to central Texas for flood recovery through July 19.

Officials said that the 22 active-duty National Guardsmen and four UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters that departed on July 8 were originally expected to return on Saturday but have now been extended to an additional week to assist in Texas with the transportation of search and rescue personnel.

Additionally, two Soldiers were ordered to state active duty to serve as liaison officers at home station to coordinate direct support to the deployed soldiers.

The Arkansas National Guard assumes support roles to augment civil authorities, where needed and directed by the Governor, to help in a crisis.
