Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Little Rock
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock police are investigating after a report of gunfire led to an officer-involved shooting at a home on Saturday night.
According to a post on social media, officers with the Little Rock Police Department were called to a home in the 11000 block of Southridge Drive at 5:02 p.m. due to a report of shots being fired.
When officers arrived at the scene, they reported hearing shots coming from the back of the home. As they moved towards the rear of the residence, officers said they encountered a person pointing a gun at them.
Police stated that shots were exchanged, and the person then ran inside the home. There, the individual encountered another officer, and more shots were fired, injuring the person.
Officials did not immediately name the injured individual but confirmed he received treatment from emergency responders for injuries that are not life-threatening.
As is standard procedure in incidents involving officers discharging their weapons, the officers involved have been placed on administrative leave pending further investigation.
