Teen brothers recount chaos from gunfire in downtown Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A crowd of teenagers in downtown Little Rock were met with the sound of gunshots and police sirens on Saturday.

Eric Rollins and his brother Marcus were dropped off at the Riverfront Park at 7 that night for a birthday party.

Their mother Tymeka said it’s the first time she’s let them go anywhere without her.

"There were a lot of teenagers out. I'm talking about a lot. And there were a lot of police officers too,” Tymeka said.

The police presence made Tymeka feel reassured.

But hours later, Eric and Marcus were the only ones left from their friend group and began following another crowd of teenagers instead.

They say that’s when things took a turn for the worst.

"They were right here behind me or something. And all you hear is 'Pow. Pow.' And my ear is ringing,” Eric said.

They said the rowdy crowd turned loud, then violent -- chaos erupted as shots were fired.

Running away for their lives, these brothers woke up the next day feeling lucky to be alive.

"I was just happy I had my brother. Because I can't go home without my brother,” Eric said.
