CARES Coalition hosts back-to-school event in North Little Rock

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – On Saturday, the Community Awareness and Resources for Engagement and Services (CARES) Youth Coalition hosted a "Family Fun Day" at the Sherman Park Community Center, providing free school supplies and resources to local families as the school year begins.

The event featured entertainment from school staff, along with free backpacks, haircuts, and other essential school supplies donated by nearly two-dozen community partners.

Raul Fernandez, a CARES committee member, highlighted the importance of community collaboration for the event's success.

"Our community partners definitely make things easier. We've got tons of volunteers, which is amazing. It's really neat just to see our whole community come together from all different pockets of our city and take care of our kiddos," he said.

The CARES Coalition's goal is to celebrate and engage families in the North Little Rock community. For information on future events, visit the North Little Rock CARES Facebook group.
