LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has designated Sunday, Sept. 21, 2025, as a “Day of Prayer and Reflection for Charlie Kirk.”

The proclamation honors Kirk, conservative activist founder of Turning Point USA, who was killed earlier this month during an event at Utah Valley University in Utah.

"Charlie Kirk was one of America's leading conservative activists and free speech advocates, founding Turning Point USA and bringing a new generation of young people into the conservative movement," the Sunday proclamation reads. "...He went to hundreds of college campuses not looking for controversy but for lost souls who needed spiritual truth. By sharing his faith he gave people hope. He helped bring light to a dark world and it's our duty not to let that light go out."

Kirk’s funeral began at 10 a.m. CT in Glendale, Arizona, with attendees including former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. Speakers include Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump Jr., Tucker Carlson and White House aides Stephen Miller and Sergio Gor.
