This is the Maryland Minute, a short story followed by a roundup of Terps-related news.

Six Maryland soccer players — four from the women’s team and two from the men’s team — were announced last week to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.

On the women’s side, goalie Liz Beardsley, defender Caroline Koutsos, midfielder Ava Morales and forward Kelsey Smith each earned recognition.

The recipients from the men’s team were defender Luca Costabile and midfielder Alex Nitzl. Nitzl was previously an Academic All-Big Ten selection and won the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award in 2022.

All six players will be automatically considered for advancement on the Academic All-American ballot, which will be revealed in early December.
