SALINE COUNTY, Ark. – Saline County has declared a state of emergency after the Thursday night storms and a tornado in Hot Springs Village.
The declaration is effective Friday, March 15. The judge’s declaration means the county is now entitled to aid relief and assistance due to a disaster emergency.
According to a statement released by the judge’s office, Garland and Saline counties both received significant damage from the Thursday night storms. Hot Springs Village straddles the two counties.
The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-2 tornado touched down in Hot Springs Village at about 8 p.m. Thursday night. The storm front that produced the tornado was the same one that brought high winds and large hail into the state overnight.

Saline County officials said updates will be posted to the Saline County Office of Emergency Management on social media.
