How many players in Super Bowl LVIII have Arkansas ties?

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — When the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers take the field on Sunday in Super Bowl LVIII, players on both sides will have ties to the Natural State.

Four players, three for the 49ers and one for the Chiefs have Arkansas ties.

Brandon Allen - 49ers

Currently the third-string quarterback for the 49ers, Brandon Allen was the starting quarterback for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2013 to 2015. Before landing in San Francisco, Allen played for the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Rams after being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Before playing for the Razorbacks, Allen led Fayetteville High School to the Class 7A state title game in 2010 and was given the Landers Award for being the top prep football player in the state.

Allen will be participating in his third Super Bowl.

Dre Greenlaw - 49ers

One of three starting linebackers for the 49ers, Dre Greenlaw played for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2015 to 2018. Greenlaw was drafted by the 49ers in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Since being drafted, Greenlaw has played in over 60 games. He recorded two interceptions in San Francisco's 24-21 NFC Divisional win over the Green Bay Packers earlier in the postseason.
