CONWAY, Ark. – State troopers say one person is in custody after reports of gunfire coming from a vehicle on Interstate 40 in Conway.
Officials with the Arkansas State Police said troopers arrested the individual who they claim was taking shots on I-40 between Exit 125 (Oak Street) and Exit 129 (Dave Ward Drive).
Troopers said no one was injured by the gunfire and that there were no injuries during the arrest.
ASP officials noted that officers from the Conway Police Department originally responded to the incident but that agents with the ASP Criminal Investigation Division were now taking over the case.
State police said troopers are still investigating what led to the gunfire, but a social media post from Conway PD described the case as a “road rage” incident. CPD officials are also asking drivers to avoid the area of Robins Street and Locust Avenue while the investigation continues.
