Free fishing weekend underway in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Great news this weekend for Arkansans who want to go fishing and do not have a fishing license.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has declared June 7 – 9 as Free Fishing Weekend in Arkansas. From noon on Friday to midnight on Sunday, anglers are welcome to fish Arkansas waters without a fishing license or trout permit.

Officials said daily limits, slot and length limits continue to be in place throughout the weekend.

The AGFC is also hosting fishing derbies over the weekend at hatcheries in Lonoke, Centerton, Corning and Hot Springs. The family-oriented events require advance registration and have a three-fish limit.

Officials remind fishing fans to pack chairs, water, sunscreen, snacks and of course fishing poles for families heading out to one of the derbies.

The AGFC also has information for fishing beginners
