Arkansas lawmakers weigh in on anniversary of Hamas attack

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas lawmakers commemorated the anniversary of the Oct. 7 Hamas ambush by voicing strong support for Israel.

All spoke in support of Israel and the necessity of defeating terror organizations through their social media accounts.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R) spoke of backing Israel while invoking Iran.

“Over the last year, Iran’s terror network has waged war on Israel and besieged our own soldiers and sailors, leading to the death of American troops,” Cotton said. “The United States has a simple strategic and moral imperative, which is also the best way to rescue the hostages and honor the memory of the lost: back Israel to the hilt and let Israel win.”

Sen. John Boozman (R) also invoked Iran and its backing of terrorists.

“The United States stands with Israel, one of our closest friends and allies as it continues to defend itself and its people,” Boozman said. “I remain committed to supporting our partner in its fight against Iran-backed terrorists.”

Rep. French Hill (R-02) voiced continuing support of Israel.

“One year ago, Hamas terrorists launched an unprovoked attack against Israel, murdering men, women, and children and taking hundreds hostage,” Hill said. “America will always stand firmly with Israel as they continue to fight these terrorists and remove evil from their homeland.”

Rep. Rick Crawford (R-01), after speaking of the plight of the HAMAS hostages, gave firm support for Israel.

“These people [hostages] are prisoners of a heinous terrorist organization that uses women and children as human shields and calls for the destruction of the State of Israel,” Crawford said. “Make no mistake, I stand with Israel and support its right to defend its citizens against Iranian-backed terrorist organizations such as Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon.”

Rep. Steve Womack (R-03) spoke of the Oct. 7 attack as a moment in history.

“A year ago today, Israel endured the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust,” Womack said. “Evil Hamas terrorists massacred and kidnapped thousands of innocent civilians, dozens of whom are still held hostage. America must continue to stand STRONG with our greatest ally in the Middle East in its fight to exist and rid the world of terrorists.”

Rep. Bruce Westerman (R-04) spoke to the human cost for Israel families.

“Today, we remember and mourn the hateful attacks made by Hamas terrorists one year ago today on the nation of Israel,” Westerman said. “As Israel still fights to defend itself and its people, let us not forget the countless lives that have been lost in these attacks and the families who are still in mourning.”

Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders posted a short statement accompanied by a video where she spoke against the rise of anti-Semitism since the Oct. 7 attack.

“On this solemn anniversary, let’s be clear: Israel is on the side of good and the terrorists are on the side of evil,” Sanders said. “We stand with Israel.”
