Mississippi County man killed in shooting after 9-hour standoff with Arkansas State Police
LEACHVILLE, Ark. – A 9-hour standoff between a Mississippi County man and Arkansas State Police troopers led to a deadly shooting Tuesday.
According to ASP officials, around 5 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Leachville Police Department and deputies with the Mississippi Sheriff’s Office were called to the 800 block of Elm Street for shots fired inside a home.
After arriving on the scene, special agents said 55-year-old Jonathan Mark Robins began shooting at deputies from a bedroom window, prompting assistance from additional law enforcement.
ASP investigators said Ribbons exited the home around 2:20 a.m. Wednesday. Special agents said he ran to a nearby home armed with a knife and gun before firing at authorities.
ASP SWAT member returned fire, striking and later killing Robins, officials said.
No law enforcement personnel were injured in the shooting, ASP officials said.
Investigators with ASP said an investigative file will be submitted to the Mississippi County Prosecuting Attorney to determine where the use of deadly force was consistent with Arkansas laws.
