Little Rock School District names top teacher, employee of the year
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Little Rock School District named its top teacher and top employee of the year at a Monday night event.
At the LRSD’s Crystal Awards Gala, Victoria Golden, an elementary teacher at Dr. Marian G. Lacey K-8 Academy, was named the 2025 LRSD Teacher of the Year. Golden received the Marian G. Lacey Award—named after a storied Little Rock educator—in recognition of her accomplishment.
Gold, who is now in the running for Arkansas Teacher of the Year, also received $1,000 in cash, a laptop computer and a Knowledge Tree gift card.
The District also named Eddie Hunt its Classified Employee of the Year for his work as a custodian at McDermott Elementary. Hunt was awarded $1,000 cash and a gift certificate from Complete Computing.
The LRSD also recognized teachers at each academic level:
- Elementary School Teacher of the Year, Krystie Brumfield of Brady Elementary
- Middle School Teacher of the Year, Carey Shurgar Sellers of Forest Heights STEM Academy
- High School Teacher of the Year, Rex R. DeLoney of Central High School
Officials said the awards were presented in front of nearly 700 attendees.
