Thousands of Arkansans protest in ‘No Kings’ march on Saturday

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The “No Kings” march took place in many states across the U.S on Saturday, including in Arkansas.

Thousands of Arkansans took part in a day of defiance as they marched and spoke out about President Donald Trump and his administration.

Donna Elky lives in Little Rock and said it was important for her to be in attendance.

"I think that it’s our duty to get out and stand against tyranny, get out and stand against people who are trying to dismantle the constitution,” Elky said.

For her, this march is personal as she honors the veterans in her family.

"My father and I, my husband who’s now deceased, my sisters and brother in laws, my nieces and nephews,” Elky said.

She said she's happy to be another voice in the crowd, but is disturbed about what took place in Washington when President Trump attended a military parade to celebrate his birthday.

“We have someone who has absolutely no respect whatsoever for the military except to use them as pawns in his political gain for power,” Elky said.

For people like Clyde Henderson, it was an attempt to display strength in numbers, many carrying signs about veterans, equal rights, freedom for all and respect.

He said things have been corrupt since Trump took office, but he’s vowing to continue taking a stand along with others until he sees a change.

"Congress needs to do its job, the president needs to stop usurping power and acting like an empower or a dictator or a king,” Henderson said.
