2 found dead at Devil’s Den State Park; suspect at large

WEST FORK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas State Police are investigating a double homicide after a man and woman were found dead July 26 on a trail at Devil’s Den State Park in Washington County.

Police were notified around 2:40 p.m., according to a news release. The victims, a 43-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, were found dead on a walking trail within the park.

Authorities are searching for a suspect described as a white male wearing dark shorts, a dark tank top and weightlifting-style gloves. He was reportedly seen driving a black four-door sedan, possibly a Mazda, with a license plate obscured by electrical or duct tape.

The suspect was last seen heading toward the park exit and may have traveled along State Highway 170 or State Highway 220.

A large law enforcement presence remains in the area as the investigation continues, according to the release. The bodies will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the official cause and manner of death.
