LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Little Rock Zoo is welcoming a new buddy.

Zoo officials said a baby colobus monkey was born Tuesday, July 29 to parents Thumbelina and Azizi.

According to the zoo’s website, colobus monkeys are native to parts of Africa. They are known for their black and white fur patterns and long tails, the site said. Baby colobus monkey are born completely white.

The newest friend’s gender hasn't been revealed, but zoo staff said the baby is continuing to develop well and growing strong.

The baby is sticking close with the mom, but staff said it won’t be long before it is playing with its big brother and sister.
