Woman hits 18-wheeler head-on during police chase on I-40 in Arkansas

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) --- A 19-year-old woman is now in custody after leading Arkansas State Police on a high-speed chase Wednesday morning on I-40 in West Memphis.

Kyla Morrow, of Forrest City, is charged with fleeing, aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.

According to the Arkansas State Police, around 7:42 a.m., Morrow was driving over 100 mph on I-40 going toward the I-55 split. She then changed directions and headed southbound on I-55.

She briefly stopped to avoid a tropper's tactical vehicle intervention before reversing and heading northbound in the southbound lanes of I-55, police say.

Reports state that Morrow then collided head-on with a commercial 18-wheeler while driving in the wrong direction on I-55. Both vehicles were disabled.

That is when Morrow got out of the vehicle and ran away before being caught by a Trooper a short distance away.

The truck driver and the suspect were evaluated at the scene, and both declined medical assistance.

There were no reported injuries.

Morrow was taken to the Crittenden County Dentention Center.
