Little Rock man sixth Arkansan arrested in connection to Jan. 6 insurrection
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A sixth Arkansan has been arrested in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the nation’s capitol.
Online court records show a federal arrest warrant was served on Daniel Hatcher in Little Rock on Feb. 13. The District of Columbia warrant shows Hatcher is facing charges of entering or remaining in a restricted building, disorderly or disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a capitol building or grounds and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building.
Court records in the case against Hatcher include an FBI investigation into Hatcher’s actions on Jan. 6. According to the agent’s report, Hatcher is seen on closed-circuit television entering the capitol on Jan. 6 after attending a nearby rally for then-President Donald Trump.
Investigators said Hatcher attended the rally and entered the building alongside two other men, Texas brothers Nathan Mackie and Brandon Mackie, who court records show have also been charged.
The report also included that Hatcher told investigators he was friends with the Mackies as his hunting buddies.
Included in the report is CCTV footage appearing to show Hatcher climbing the wall to the capitol’s northwest terrace before climbing back down and entering the capitol terrace through some nearby stairs. According to the investigator’s report, Hatcher admitted to all this in an interview with FBI agents at his attorney’s office on Jan. 15, 2021.
Additional stills from CCTV footage in the report appear to show Hatcher alongside Mackie and Mackie entering the capitol building through a broken window.
Court records show Hatcher told an FBI agent in an interview that he had entered through a door.
Additional footage in the investigator’s report appears to show Hatcher posing before a line of police officers inside the capitol building while Brandon Mackie takes his picture. Hatcher also admitted to this during the Jan. 15 interview, the report stated.
The report states that Hatcher told the investigator he and the Mackies left the building shortly after taking the picture.
The FBI agent who prepared the report said Hatcher’s identification and the identification of Mackie and Mackie came through a comparison of security footage against social media photos and driver’s license photos. The agent who prepared the report stated the three came to law enforcement’s attention from tips to the agency.
The three men are scheduled for their initial court appearance on Feb. 27 by teleconference.
Other Arkansans have received sentences ranging from probation up to 54 months in prison, the latter for Richard “Bigo” Barnett, famously pictured on Jan. 6 with his feet on a desk in then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office.
