Arkansas Mobile Opioid Recovery Clinic hits the road, bringing recovery resources to rural areas

MALVERN, Ark. – Opioid recovery resources are now rolling out to rural areas in Arkansas.

The Arkansas Mobile Opioid Recovery Clinic debuted in Malvern on Monday. Organizers said the purpose of the clinic is to bring crucial services to those in need in rural areas.

The mobile unit offers peer recovery support specialists, medical providers such as doctors and nurses and mental health experts. People who stop by are also able to receive free naloxone.

“We bring them, you know, hope, recovery, medical assistance and all of the above should bridge that gap,” Peer Support Specialist Russell Boyd said.

Those behind the effort like Dr. Kristin Martin said providing these services to people who may have a hard time getting them is a major step in tackling the opioid epidemic.

“We're looking for open hearts and open minds, people who want resources, who want to have collaborations in their communities, in their churches, in their schools. Our hope is we reach any of those people who are wanting help," Martin said

Organizers said the next place the unit will go depends on where it is needed most.
