Little Rock’s first ALDI location set to open in May
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After expanding to other areas of the Natural State, the value-grocery chain ALDI is finally set to open the doors at its first Little Rock location in just a few weeks.
The company has set May 23 for the grand opening at the new store located at 12309 Chenal Parkway, though shoppers will be able to get a sneak peek of the store starting May 15.
The chain is known for its store-brand products, fresh produce and no-frills shopping experience. The new location will put it in close competition with other nearby stores including Whole Foods, Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Trader Joe’s.
According to the announcement of the opening, the store is offering multiple incentives to bring in new customers, including a $500 gift card giveaway, an 8:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony and a free shopping tote.
The store is also offering a bag of ALDI “goodies” as well as a “golden ticket” worth up to $100 for the first 100 customers in the store during the grand opening.
Fans of the grocery chain were excited last summer when the company purchased the land parcel, which was the location of a former Bed Bath & Beyond store.
Little Rock joins Conway as central Arkansas cities with the chain. The Faulkner County store opened in January to similar fanfare and events.
Expansion into more cities in the region is still in the works for ALDI. The Cabot Planning Commission gave the green light to a plan to bring the store there during a January meeting.
The Little Rock and Cabot locations would be the 15th and 16th locations for ALDI in Arkansas. Besides Conway, there are also stores in northwest Arkansas in Bentonville, Fayetteville, Fort Smith, Harrison, Rogers, Siloam Springs, Springdale and Van Buren, as well as in the northeast part of the state in Batesville, Jonesboro and Paragould.
