Study says Arkansas travelers least likely to have 'naughty' flying habits

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Airlines will offer travelers to fly the friendly skies, and a new study claims that if Arkansans are onboard the flight, it may make for a more pleasant trip.

A recent study on the SolitaireBliss blog found Arkansas has the “least naughty” air travelers, saying Natural State residents were least likely to hog seats in the terminal, mostly likely to wear shoes on the plane and least likely to board drunk and engage in other acts of air travel rudeness.

The study came from researchers surveying residents of every state about rude behaviors they have witnessed or done.

Reclining seats without asking was the most often cited rude behavior, with bags placed on terminal seats as the second-in-line. Less common but rude were asking to cut in a security line, verbal confrontation with others and bringing strong-smelling food on a flight.

Using both armrests when not in the middle seat was another pain point for travelers.

According to the study, Iowa had the “most naughty” travelers, taking a bit of the air out of the concept of “Midwest Nice.”

In terms of naughty behavior by age, the study found the group most likely to be naughty were members of Generation Z (people born from 1990 to 2010).

When it came to the airline where researchers reported the most bad behavior, respondents felt that the airline where they were most likely to be confronted with rudeness was Spirit Airlines.
