Little Rock fire crew responds to city trash truck fire

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock firefighters responded to a city trash truck fire Wednesday morning.

Officials with the Little Rock Fire Department said the truck caught fire at Kavanaugh and Ridgeway.

LRFD officials said the fire was in the front of the truck, burning the engine and the cab. Crews were able to put out the fire.

The fire comes a day after Little Rock city officials voted to purchase five new trash trucks due to maintenance issues with other vehicles. The maintenance issues have caused the city to cancel yard waste pickups during the week.

Fire officials have not released the cause of the fire or any reports of injuries at this time.
