Van Buren County deputies ID body of missing man, arrest Oklahoma man in case

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Ark. – Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office investigators said they have recovered the body of a missing man and taken a second man into custody.

Officials said investigators had recovered the body of 34-year-old William Ward, who was reported missing on March 23, 2023. Ward’s body was found in Damascus on Sept. 5, according to investigators.

Deputies said 58-year-old Bobby Glover of Newalla, Oklahoma, was taken into custody on Sept. 11 in connection to the investigation of Ward’s disappearance and death.

The sheriff’s office noted that teams with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations, Cleveland County (Okla.) Sheriff’s Office, the 22nd Judicial District Attorney Task Force of Oklahoma, Arkansas State Police and the 20th Judicial Drug Task Force of Arkansas aided in the investigation.

Authorities did not clarify the exact list of charges expected to be filed against Glover.

VBCSO investigators said the case is still ongoing. Any information should be directed to Lt. Investigator Chasta Harrison with the sheriff’s office.

“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family,” Sheriff Eric Koonce said. “We hope this brings some closure for the family.”
