Arkansas gas prices up 5 cents in latest weekly report
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas drivers are being squeezed slightly more at the pumps for the week of Oct. 14.
The Thursday AAA report shows that the price of a gallon of regular has gone up 5 cents for the week. The weekly report continues that despite prices increasing by a nickel, the state average of $2.86 per gallon is 31 cents less than the average price a year ago.
In central Arkansas, drivers in Hot Springs are paying $2.84 a gallon, the lowest in the region. Little Rock-North Little Rock drivers are slightly above that, with a $2.85 average at the pumps. The report shows Pine Bluff is up to an average of $2.87.
The lowest gas price in the state is in Johnson County, at $2.78. Montgomery County is the highest, at $3.05.
AAA spokesperson Nick Chabarria cited stability in the gasoline sector as a pricing factor.
“Arkansas drivers are filling up for 31 cents cheaper per gallon, on average, than this time last year,” Chabarria said. “More stability in the global oil and gas industry is primarily driving the savings.”
AAA reported that Arkansas drivers are paying the eighth lowest average gas price in the county, with a national average of $3.20 per gallon, topped by California at $4.66 average at the pumps. Officials said the national average gas price began climbing last Thursday due to the impact of Hurricane Milton.
