City Year to host Equality Summit on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – City Year is gearing up to host events for its Equality Summit in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

City Year will kick off events with its Day of Service from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at McDermott Elementary School.

The organization is also inviting the public to join AmeriCorps members and community members to paint a mural and other projects at the elementary school at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18.

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, City Year will host the Equity Summit from noon to 4:30 p.m. at Henderson Middle School. The event will include presentations and panels, professional conversations and more.

“Twenty years in, City Year is unwavering in our commitment to ensuring all Central Arkansas students have the opportunity to achieve their full potential,” City Year's senior vice president and executive director Jennifer Cobb said. “This Equity Summit is yet another example of how when we join forces, we can help bridge gaps and build brighter futures for the next generation.”

City Year’s executive vice president Steven Spaloss will be the summit’s leynote.
