City of Bryant warns local businesses of email scam
BRYANT, Ark. – The city of Bryant is warning local businesses to be aware of a recent email scam.
City officials said the emails are claiming to issue permit invoices on behalf of the city and requesting payment through wire transfer.
In addition to attached invoices and wire transfer requests, the scam emails may claim to be from a city director or other city officials and provide suspicious instructions unrelated to normal city processes.
City officials said they will not send invoices through email or request payment by wire transfer for any permits or applications.
All transactions with the city are only processed through the Planning and Development Department. Officials said the city may send a payment link, but it will go to an iWorq portal. Payments may also be made in person by cash or check at the City Hall.
To stay protected against the scam, city officials recommend not clicking any links or opening attachments from suspicious emails, sending payments through wire transfers and verifying directly with the Planning and Development Department at 501-943-0488.
