Is mail delivered on New Year's Day?

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — You may need to wait one extra day for that late Christmas delivery.

Most postal carriers will not be making deliveries on New Year's Day.

According to the United States Postal Service, New Year's Day is one of 11 federal holidays upon which mail is not delivered.

Mail will be delivered Dec. 31, as most local post office locations will be open, according to USPS. Regular mail and Priority Mail Express will also be delivered on New Year's Eve.

Along with USPS, DHL will also suspend deliveries on Jan. 1.

UPS will close all store locations on New Year's Day and most of its iconic brown trucks will not be making their deliveries. Services will reopen to the public on Thursday. UPS Express Critical service will still be available.

As for FedEx, operations will be suspended until Jan. 2, though its Custom Critical services will still be available for customers.

There will also be no Amazon deliveries on New Year's Day, including same-day deliveries to Prime Members, and warehouses will also be closed. All services and locations will reopen on Thursday. Amazon is also closed on other major holidays including Christmas Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

Customers can still expect services to return to normal starting Jan. 2.
