Drivers staying cautious on icy Arkansas roads
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- As winter weather continues to move in, we want to keep you updated on the roads here in Central Arkansas.
Many drivers were getting off work Tuesday afternoon and trying to safely make it from point A to point B.
"I'm just trying to get home, this treacherous weather is just killing Little Rock tonight," Little Rock driver James Woods said.
"The roads are pretty crazy right now, so I suggest everyone just get home, and whatever you need just take it home with you," Little Rock driver Francisco Reyes said.
Some drivers shared their worries and concerns, but also a tip that helped them.
"It's just a little slick but if you slow down, put it in neutral as you go down the hill you will make it just fine," Little Rock driver Cynthia Ehigie said.
AAA advises if you do start to slide, do not slam on your brakes or jerk the wheel, but instead let your foot off the brakes, steer gently, and don't forget to breathe.
They also share that it's crucial to clear your car's windshields and roof if it's snow or ice-covered to protect yourself and other drivers from falling ice and snow that can obstruct views or fall and damage other vehicles.
Keeping more space between drivers than usual is also highly suggested during winter weather.
