Nevada pet owners reunite with lost cat found in Arkansas after 5 years

JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – A husband and wife living in Nevada had a reunion five years in the making with a lost pet that was found in Arkansas.

Cindy and Jeff Hall said they adopted Sam, a Russian Blue cat, from a rescue in Arizona 12 years ago when he was 12 weeks old.

“We had him for seven years and then one day he got out,” Cindy Hall said.

Fearing the worst, Hall said they put up signs and searched for Sam but had no luck. That was until they got what they said was an unbelievable phone call weeks ago.

“It is a miracle that he walked up to these two women that were in rescue,” Cindy Hall said.

Those two women found Sam at a gas station in Arkansas and then took him to Jacksonville Animal Hospital who was able to contact the animal rescue Sam was adopted from thanks to his microchip. That rescue then called the Halls.

“It's such a beautiful story,” Cindy Hall said. “This story just can't underestimate the power of a microchip. We are so grateful for everyone that was involved.”

Hall said with help Sam was able to be transported back into their arms.

“When we got him it was surreal,” Cindy Hall said.

Although Sam is now 12 years old and weighs 21 and a half pounds, Cindy Hall said the reunion at home is like it never changed.

“Having him home makes our family feel complete,” Cindy Hall said.
