LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — In its opening weekend, “The Bikeriders”, the film directed by Little Rock native Jeff Nichols, grossed $10 Million and came in third place behind “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” and “Inside Out 2”.
“The Bikeriders” stars Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon and Norman Reedus and is based on the photo book “The Bikeriders” by Danny Lyon.
It was initially scheduled to be released on Dec. 1, 2023, but it was taken off the release schedule due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, which prevented the cast from promoting the film.
Though the film’s release was delayed, it has been met with critical acclaim on review site Rotten Tomatoes where is has an 82% score from reviewers.
Nichols, who has also directed the films Mud and Midnight Special, held a sneak preview of the film in October at the Arkansas Cinema Society’s Filmland 2023 festival in Little Rock.
