Pine Bluff police arrest man suspected of domestic battery, credit witness tips in finding him

PINE BLUFF, Ark. – A man sought by Pine Bluff police and accused of multiple acts of domestic abuse is now in custody after nearly a week-long search.

Officials with the Pine Bluff Police Department said 48-year-old Sylvester Brown was captured Monday afternoon. Officers started their search for Brown, wanted on accusations of first-degree domestic battery and other felonies, on July 3.

Authorities reported Brown did not have a home and had been squatting in abandoned houses, making it difficult for investigators to track his location. Police credit a massive number of local residents calling in to share information on sightings of Brown with being able to take him into custody.

Department officials note that Brown was also wanted on an absconder warrant from parole and probation.

Investigators said the victim in this case is still in intensive care at an area hospital. Further charges may be pending for Brown, authorities added.
